The UConn Huskies Men’s Basketball team will attempt to defend their NCAA Championship this year. The season officially started against Charleston on November 20th, and the men are currently 4-2 this season. According to the American Conference, Coach Kevin Ollie’s key returning starters this year include Ryan Boatright and Amida Brimah. Ryan Boatright currently a senior at UConn has been named the All-American Athletic Conference player of the year and has been added to the watch list for the 2015 Bob Cousy Award. This will be Kevin Ollie’s second season as the UConn Huskies Men’s Basketball head coach. Last year, he led the Huskies to their fourth NCAA National Championship after being banned for a year due to poor academic performance. Ollie has made a lot of accomplishments in the past year and we look forward to what he brings to the table this season. The Knights have lost almost all their key players from last year’s roster, including Isaiah Sykes. UCF Knights went 4-14 last year’s conference games and are currently 7-4 in non-conference games.

This year will be the first time the UConn Huskies take on the East Carolina Pirates as league rivals. UConn holds a 3-1 series lead, and this will be the first time since 1978 that UConn will play East Carolina.   • Head coach Kevin Ollie recently signed a five year contract with the University of Connecticut worth $2.8 million a year. 
  • Ollie graduated from UConn in 1995. During that time he played for the UConn Huskies Men’s Basketball team. 
  • Kevin Ollie played professionally in the NBA for 13 years. He has played for teams such as Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, and more! 
  • In 2010, Kevin Ollie left the NBA and started as an assistant coach for Jim Calhoun at the University of Connecticut. When head coach Jim Calhoun decided to retire after the 2012 season, Kevin Ollie took over as head coach. 
  • During his first year as head coach at UConn he led the UConn Huskies Men’s Basketball team to their 4th NCAA National Championship.
